Beauty Festival at the Arena di Verona

The Festival

Festival of Beauty at the Arena di Verona, the beautiful Italian arena take the form of a Greek Agora. The most beautiful and famous amphitheater in the world, has decided to resume its season blocked by the Coronavirus with the Beauty Festival. For the first time the arena returns to its most ancient and historical origins. In ancient Greece, in fact, amphitheatres were used as meeting and comparison places, where there was space for reflection, stories and shows dedicated to Eros. For this reason the arena is given the nickname of Agora.

You can attend this Festival from September 11 to 19, 2020. In total there will be 16 events where each one will discuss philosophy, art, psychology, sport, music and theatre. The topics are numerous and wide to keep the spectator attentive and can interact with all the conversations. Great intellectual stimuli also because there will be many guests within the events.

Among them Alessandro Baricco, Mogol, Edoardo Bennato, Massimo Recalcati, Morgan, Vittorio Sgarbi. From Philippe Daverio to Federico Buffa, Flavio Tranquillo, Umberto Galimberti, Gioele Dix, Massimo Cacciari, Gloria Campaner and finally Alessio Boni.

The project

This project and Festival was commissioned by the Mayor of Verona Federico Sboarina and organized by Alcide Marchioro. While the artistic director and Gianmarco Mazzi. During the nine days of the festival there will be two daily appointments. In the evening with the intervention of philosophers and intellectuals, while in the evening there will be music and acting, by musicians and actors.

Each event will be able to accommodate a maximum of 3800 spectators spaced out in the entire space of the bleachers. While if only half of the amphitheater will be available there can be a maximum of 1800 spectators. The evening events will start at 6.30 pm and the first guest will be Alessandro Baricco, Friday, September 11th. Baricco will start the festival with the lectio ‘On Time and Love’.

In the following days there will be special guests for each evening, where each of them will talk about specific topics. As for example Mogol tells the turning point of the song in the ’60s and ’70s. While Edoardo Bennato performs in the unique concert ‘La Bellezza del Rock’. Then Alessandro Baricco with pianist Gloria Campaner and the 40 elements of the Canova orchestra will face Ludwig van Beethoven and the romantic spirit in an unusual way. So what are you waiting for?
