Baldassarre Castiglione, born in Mantua but then raised in Urbino, mainly known for his work the Cortegiano. In his work, he talked about the model of behaviour for the high society of the entire continent, for this reason, it was translated into different languages.
After his work, Baldassarre was considered an intellectual of the highest level and this allowed him to be close to many artists, writers, poets, rulers and popes. But in particular he was very close to the famous artist of Urbino, Raffaello. The exhibition that will be held in Urbino from July 18, deals with the path that this intellectuals had with Raffaello but also with other people in view of time. Such as Leo X, the Medici, the Sforza, the Gonzaga and Isabella d’Este, and other artists Leonardo, Titian, Giulio Romano. All this has been reconstructed thanks to the letters he left.
In the exhibition we find the collection of Baldassarre Castiglione, some works by Raphael, but that will only be copies at the exhibition. Made by the famous Lino Frongia, who makes fakes absolutely equal to the famous works. Inside the exhibition you will also find clothes of the time, weapons, ancient editions and manuscripts, music, coins and medals.
The exhibition has therefore the ultimate goal to convey the cultural climate of Urbino Renaissance. At the end of the presentation the mayor of Urbino Maurizio Gambini and the director of the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche will give visitors a single ticket of 12 euros per exhibition and gallery.
