Pierfrancesco Favino a new member of the Oscars
A new Academy member
Pierfrancesco Favino a new member of the Oscars, he will be part of the new jury, this year another 800 members were appointed. Among the new members there are a few other Italian names. Like the director of the Venice Film Festival Alberto Barbera, and also the director of the Berlin Film Festival Carlo Chatrian. We also find composers Andrea Guerra and Lele Marchitelli. Favino together with the other Italian names will be on the jury, because he belongs to people who have won a statuette in the past, received a nomination or an invitation. This is the only way you can become a member of the Oscar jury and vote. In 2020 there will be 10,000 voters, and more women than men. Most of them are from the United States, but they also come from 68 different countries.
On Oscars night, there are 75 nominations and 15 Oscar winners in total. Last year among the best foreign films was nominated the Italian film “Il traditore” starring our Pierfrancesco Favino. This year David Di Donatello won the 2020 David Di Donatello for Best Actor.
The film “Il Traditore” is about the character Tommaso Buschetta who allowed the judges Falcone and Borsellino, before tragically falling into the hands of the mafia, to bring to light the existence of the mafia structure of Cosa Nostra. Revealing its leaders and having them imprisoned.
The Italian actor
Speaking instead of the great Italian actor. Pierfrancesco Favino He has worked with records such as Spike Lee and Ron Howard, he has also starred, among others, in Angels and Demons. Pierfrancesco is considered very good, wise, not too good-looking, but fascinating: among the most famous Italian actors abroad, he has taken Favino’s podium. He is known outside his home country for his role in the Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and World War Z.
Last year we also saw him starring in the acclaimed Italian film Hammamet, where he plays Beppino Craxi. It is an Italian biographical drama written and directed by Gianni Amelio. Based on the last years of the life of Bettino Craxi (1934-2000), former Prime Minister and Secretary of the Italian Socialist Party. He held the position of Prime Minister in the 1980s. Pierfrancesco Favino portrays Bettino Craxi in a spectacular and very similar way. He had to spend 4 hours of make-up a day to turn into Craxi, overweight, bald and old. The gestures and tone of voice are the same.
The film is not entirely accurate from a historical point of view. Yet, being an intense drama, it shows this once powerful man. Who is pulled down from the pedestal on which he had climbed and thrown closer to ordinary people. The film revolves around the human side of Bettino Craxi and the emotional bond with his fiercely loyal daughter, Stefania. A former Foreign Secretary of the Berlusconi government. People watching this film now realize that an injustice has been done against this man.
