The Italian film director

The new documentary by Guadagnino about Ferragamo will be shown for the first time at the Venice Film Festival 2020. The famous Italian director Luca Guadagnino has decided to dedicate an entire documentary to this world-famous “shoemaker” who has created one of the most iconic fashion brands ever. The title of the film is Salvatore – Shoemaker of Dreams. It will be premiered at the Venice 2020 exhibition this September.

“What is genius? How is a system born, whether it’s cinema or fashion? And the furious obsession with a constant search for ideas and creation, how does it fit in with tradition and family values? Salvatore Ferragamo (1898-1960), protagonist and witness of the 20th century is the answer to these questions,” says Luca Guadagnino.

Guadagnino decided to tell the story and life of this great Italian entrepreneur and artist. Showing also his most intimate side, a complex character, mystery and charm. The narrating voice within the documentary is Michael Stuhlbarg. Among the interviews within the documentary there is also that of the great Martin Scorsese.
